A Little Powerless

The town of Fledmer is not an ordinary town. An unordinary town also mean unordinary people. You see, Fledmer’s people have a unique specialty, each of them all have superpowers. I love the superpowers people have, but the problem is that I am the only one without superpowers. And being the only person without superpowers usually results in loneliness. Honestly, if there was one power I would want, it would probably be invisibility.

The way to get superpowers is usually from your parents. But when my parents tried to give me a superpower, I was just blasted by static. We tried a couple more times, ending in a big, fat failure.

On my way to school, I bumped into wizard McGelllo. I said my sorry, and sighed in frustration. Since he is a wizard, he is one of the smartest and wisest in Fledmer. I ask him if there is another way to get powers besides from my parents.

“Just find another powerball, Kit,” he says.

A Powerball is used to give powers. Usually the parents have the powerball and give it to their kid, which I tried already. Maybe the powerball was faulty, I wonder.

I search around town, hoping to find a powerball just lying in the street. I don’t find one. There is obviously not going to be a prized and valuable possession like a powerball -which is at least 300 million dollars- just lying on the street. I start panicking.

I look towards Mt. Power, the tallest mountain close to my town. I stare at it, as if I am trying to laserbeam my way through it. I don’t have that power, yet. I see it, a glimpse of hope! On the peak of the mountain, there is a faint flashing glow. The glow of a powerball. Unfortunately, the mountain is literally an eleven mile hike. I am honestly too lazy to hike. So instead I try to convince everyone I know that can fly, or teleport, to get me on top of the mountain, but my luck strikes again. Its like I have the power of unluckiness I mutter hopelessly. Nobody was willing to take me up there.

I plop down on my bed in my small, uncomfortable room. Ok maybe its not that small or cramped, but I was sad okay?

I remember something AMAZING. My mom can fly.

I run as fast as possible, swinging myself down the stairs, doing an unnecessary barrel roll, all while shouting “MOM, MOM, WHERE ARE YOU.”

“Yes sweetie?”

“Can you take me on top of Mt. Power?” I ask Excitedly.

“What for?” She asks

“There is a powerball up there!” I say desperately, “I need you to get me up there.”

A moment later she is flying me up on the mountain. It was really cold, but I didn’t care. She dropped me on the snow, and I ran towards the glowing red light.

A powerball. It’s a dream come true.

I celebrate, but the powerball slips out of my hand and off the mountain’s side. Luckily my mom caught it. We say a prayer, and I handle it in a way where I can get the powers. It starts glowing again and again until the glowing stops.

I start glowing instead.

I try different things that could make me go invisible.

Finally, I clap. My mom asks me where I am. I hug her, and she seems surprised by the fact that an invisible being is hugging her.
